Shadows Chapter 5

"Arianna, get up your going to hurt your back laying on the couch." I heard my father say.
"Mkay." I muttered getting up and going to my bedroom as my dad left for his first job. When I got to my room I collapsed on my bed and then tried to go back to sleep without much success, after a while of just lying there I got up and picked up Harry Potter. By the time Harry arrived at Hogwarts the sun had raised and I could hear Amos stirring. I could go make breakfast for him or I could continue reading about Harry's first year at Hogwarts. I chose Harry Potter over Amos.  
When the thought of having to hold his breath for two hours dawned upon Harry the sun was at its highest point and I was still in my p.j.s. The thought of changing into actual clothes and brushing my hair dawned upon my mind, but I just laughed at it.
'thud'
What was that? Must be my imagination.
'thud'
Was I really insane enough to hear the same thud twice, with my mind who knows.
'thud'
Okay, this might not be my imagination. I stretched my legs then went to my window to see what the source of the noise was.  Turns out it wasn't my imagination, it was Evan. He was throwing stones at my window on a Sunday afternoon.
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair." He joked. I opened my window and he came closer.
"What are you doing here?" I asked through the bug screen.
"I was wondering if you would like to go out with me?" he asked.
"Like a date? Or is it another friend things?" I asked.
"Could it be a date." He asked.
"Yes, but that would mean I would have to get out of these sweat pants." I said just now realizing that I was in my p.j.s in front of Evan.
"Those do look very comfortable I can see how they are better than spending the day with me." Evan joked.
"Well, convince me sales man! Why should I get out of this comfy outfit?" I said.
"Well we can go anywhere, the bookstore, a restaurant, a park, the mall. Also everything is on me." He said.
"You forgot one thing Mr. Sales-man." I told him.
"What is that?" he asked.
"I get to spend the day with you!" I said. "Now give me a second to change."   I quickly jumped into some jeans and a t-shirt then returned to the window. "I'll be coming out the front door so Amos doesn't get suspicious." I told him.
 As I strutted out of my room with the biggest smile on my face, Amos looked up from his video game.
"You know you should learn to talk a little quieter." Amos suggested.
"Amos please don't tell dad!!" I begged.
"Alright on one condition." Amos bargained.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Can you make Evan study with me? I don't get Spanish at all!" Amos said.
"I can't make him do anything, but I can try to convince him." I told him.
"Convince him really good! But no kissing or any of that other stuff!" Amos exclaimed.
"Okay, but one suggestion, Amos: learn English before you try Spanish."
"Why do I need to know English I speak American." Amos said. I mentally disowned myself from him and closed the door hoping not to see his face for a long long time.
"You look beautiful." Evan stated taking a lock of my messy red hair in his long fingers.
"Really, I don't think so, anyways Amos is on to us. His ransom is another study session." I told him.
"Sounds fair, but after our date." Evan said his hand touching my cheek.
"And what is going to happen on this date?" I said ready to get off the porch where we were in full view of Amos's glaring eyes.
"A hug, holding hands, and I was hoping to end it in a kiss." Evan said.
"Too bad, part of Amos's terms and conditions was no kissing." I joked.
"Well I might have steal one then." He said a cute glint appearing in his violet eyes.
"Carful burglar, that's a crime."
"I'm willing to go to jail." Evan said leaning closer to me. Before his lips could touch mine I stopped them with my hand.
"Nice try." I told him kissing his cheek then skipping to the driveway.
"You can't escape me that easy!" Evan yelled running towards me. I laughed and started running in the opposite direction. I kept running until I was hidden in a blanket of trees. I stopped behind a tree and caught my breath. I looked up and saw a sturdy branch. An idea lit a light bulb above my head.
Up I went into the tree until I could see Evan' head bopping up and down.
"Arianna?" He called. "Arianna?!" he called coming a bit closer to my tree. Once he passed it I jumped, landing on my feet behind him. "Arianna! You scared me to death!" he exclaimed. I laughed and knocked him down in a hug feeling like a kid instead of a teenager.
"Boo!" I whispered.
"Arianna, you're so stupid." He laughed putting his arms around me.
"Isn't she now?" An old voice said with a little laugh. Evan flipped me over and stood up in a protective stance.
"Where are you Alcwyn?" he yelled.  A masked man came out from the cover of a tree.
"You really thought you could escape from me, Ensan?" the man asked as if it were a joke.
"Evan, who is he?" I asked grabbing on to his ankle.
"Oh that's what you're going by now." The masked man chuckled.
"Arianna run!" Evan or Ensan or whoever the heck he is yelled at me. I attempted to get up, but my arms and legs wouldn't move.
"I don't think so. I don't like my prey to run." The masked man said. Prey?
"What do you want with her Alcwyn?" Evan yelled. "I was the one who escaped. Go on, take me!"
"What are you talking about?! Who is this man?! Someone! HELP!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
"I also despise prey that makes too much noise." The masked man said. In a second my jaws snapped together and wouldn't budge no matter how hard I tried. What was he?
"Alcwyn, don't make me fight you! I'm not afraid."  Evan said his voice quivering.
"You're not afraid? HA! You are trembling in fear, my dear Ensan! But I guess this wouldn't be a proper abduction without a fight." The masked man laughed. Abduction?!
